Environmental concerns in Hope (wildfires, river health, logging): what’s going on and how can residents help?
Last summer’s wildfires were way too close for comfort. The smoke hung around for weeks, and even short walks outside felt rough. It made me start thinking about how much the environment here affects our day-to-day lives — especially with the rivers and forests being such a big part of Hope’s identity. I’m wondering if anyone’s been involved in local cleanup or conservation projects and how regular folks can actually pitch in?

I totally get that. I helped with a small cleanup event along the Coquihalla River last year, and it was eye-opening — so much debris after the floods. A lot of local businesses in Hope, BC actually support these volunteer efforts or donate supplies. It’s great to see the community care that much. Joining local groups or even just reporting problem areas helps more than people realize.
